Please help our friends Kim & Reggie Harris and Magpie

The closing theme for The Midnight Special is When I'm Gone and is performed by Kim & Reggie Harris and Magpie (Greg Artzner & Terry Leonino). They have become good friends to WFMT over the years performing in our folk festival and several times on Folkstage. They live across the road from each other about 30 miles outside of Albany, New York near Middleburgh, NY, close to the Schoharie Creek. There are several bridges required to reach their homes. During the recent hurricane the Schoharie Creek turned into a raging torrent and all the bridges were washed out. The ones on the public highways have been repaired by the local authorities, but the final bridge to their home is on their private road and they are responsible for maintaining it. That bridge was totally destroyed and the creek bed actually shifted and severely eroded. The cost of the repair will be $25,000. FEMA granted them $7,000, so they have a long way to go. Need I tell you how little money performing artists earn? I have visited Kim & Reggie and Greg and Terry and their homes are smaller than most Chicago condos.

Thus, their friends have taken to fundraising for them so that they can replace their bridge. It's very hard to wade through hip deep water with three guitars in hand. If you'd like to help our friends, please send them a check for any amount made out to:

Please state on the memo line: Gifts for the bridge fund.

Since Kim & Reggie and Greg & Terry live across the road from each other they will equally share the proceeds.
